Canon announces the EOS 5D Mark II

Canon has announced the release date and full specification for the hotly anticipated Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Many had speculated that the camera may have been called the 6D but we can now confirm that the EOS 5D Mark II will boast an incredible specification including:
- 21 megapixel image resolution
- DIGIC 4 image processing technology
- True high definition video at 1080 pixels
- 3.9 frames per second continous shooting
- 3" VGA (920 dots) clear view LCD
- ISO 100-6400 (expansion from 50 up to 25,600)
- 9 AF points + 6 Assist AF points
The 5D Mark II will remain a full frame camera and be capable of taking still images whilst recording live video.
The initial price point for the EOS 5D Mark II has been set at £2299.99 and will be available from the end of November 2008.
A version of the 5D Mark II with EF 24-105mm f4.0L IS USM kit will be available from the same time at a price of £3049.99.
